“Art may be the finest form of prayer”

Julia Cameron, The Artist’s Way
Voicemail | A Short Film (2025)
“I feel a sense of relief as I write. I feel like I gained a companion. A charged embrace smoothing out the tension from my stiff forehead and clenched jaw. Drooping my shoulders and exhaling my breath. I have control now. I no longer need to leave my life to chance. I have this embrace, I have my breath back.”

“Flashes from my P. Funk road-trip in December. A memory forever cherished.”

Untitled 03 (2023)

“I filmed the first half of this on May 9, 2023, to capture the daytime rain shower but after I looked at the footage it turned out to be a perfect representation of how I was feeling this day. I was feeling very isolated and down. Somehow I knew what to capture. Intuition. I had been experiencing many changes and my space reflected that as well. The shot of the chair is the epitome of how I felt. Alone. A mess. I had the first half of this edited and sitting in my camera roll all this time, not knowing what to do with it.

Now, I filmed the second half of this back in August of 2021 in the Santa Fe Art District when I first wanted to learn how to edit on Adobe Premier Pro. I had tried to edit the footage multiple times, but got impatient learning the software and could never finish it. These videos have been lying around since then. I recently dug them up to try and do something with them and decided to put them together over Blood Orange performing “Jewelry”.

Having this be the second half of this video reminds me that the first half depicting the loneliness and rain is just a temporary state of being. That feeling of isolation was being washed away and although I still feel it, I can go back and invest in parts of myself that I may have forgotten about or parts of myself that need attention. That is good company.” k9

"Here is a video summarizing my recent bday trip to New York. My intention was to see Yves Tumor, but ended up seeing Shabazz Palaces too, along with an Allman Brothers tribute band “End of the Line” (not shown in video). k9
